Day of Deliverance

It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shews, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more.

Hallelujah and woot woot! Strike up the band and cue the fireworks! I have received the remainder of my rewards from Fractured Dimensions' Infernal Minions of the Outer Planes Kickstarter. This comes two years to the day after the project's successful funding.

Pictured above are (L to R) a type IV demon, a type I demon, and the heads for two previously delivered type III demons. (Clearly Mr. Gygax had a thing for Roman numerals back in the Monster Manual days of yesteryear.)

With the exception of a little mold-slip on the type IV's extended right arm (very fixable I should think) the minis look outstanding. Of note too is the tiny, seperate, lower jaw of the one type III head (affixed to some masking tape in the picture).  Care will be needed not to loose that bit.

This lot joins the bulk of the rewards which can be seen here.

PTS X: Sidetracked

It's Paint Table Saturday and an update on the painting of Fractured Dimensions' bodak should follow. For that to happen it would of course be necessary first to do some actual painting.

Funny how that works.

Instead, I found myself scrapping the base I was prepared to use and constructing something more to my liking. Having done this I prepped yet another mini and built a similar base for it.

Lots of pictures to follow in an effort to illustrate my hobby-meanderings:

The Mane Event

Three more Fractured Dimensions minis down... many, many more to go. These are manes (a type of demon) sculpted by Pedro Navarro.

Killer Klowns

Send in the clowns... the naked, obese, homicidal clowns.

EDIT 05/28/16
Mortal Arrow will only be distributing Fractured Dimensions miniatures until the end of this month (May 2016). A word to the wise: get them while you can.
*******

Two more minis from Fractured Dimensions' IMotOP Kickstarter are done. These lovelies are a sort of devil called a perribo, first seen as the nupperibo in 1983's Monster Manual II. Their appearance owes more to an illustration by Tony DiTerlizzi for the Planescape setting than to any written description. In fact, that illustration and the written description seem oddly contradictory.

So concludes the D&D minutia portion of the program.

Sculptor Paul Muller did an amazing job with these two. The man's a master of anatomy and musculature (or fat rolls in this case).  Moreover, like all of his sculpts, they practically ooze character (among other things). The heads have a pronounced clown-vibe that led me to the paint scheme seen above.

A not too distant cousin?

To my mind these guys fall just as easily into the ranks of the undead. A sort of demonic ghoul. So inspired, I experimented with a new undead skin-color... pink. Grey was added to pink for the base, a pale, undead fleshtone added progressively to that for the highlights, assorted washes for the shading. The colors used:

The black should be used VERY sparingly, if at all.

Overall, it was warm colors on everything but the heads. Hopefully the cool blue used there provides a nice contrast.

PTS IX: They Call me Schultz

It's time for another action-packed installment of Paint Table Saturday, campers. The paint table part and explanation of the Hogan's Heroes reference will follow shortly. First, some old business requires attention.

The Helping Hand Challenge, a year long undertaking initiated by Chris at Duke of the Blood Keep, joined by Ant Master at Deviant Designs Deeds and myself, is over. My final offering wasn't quite done when presented. That has been put right:

Little different from last time, I know. Just the face, base, and some touch-ups.

I painted nine of the intended twelve minis plus two that sneaked in uninvited. Whether or not that's a respectable performance is a matter best left to future miniature-painting historians. For now, I present the HHC class of 2014/15:

On to new business. Two perribos (a type of devil) from Fractured Dimensions are next in the paint queue. They're pictured below along with a couple possible skin-tones. After this test I'm leaning towards the greyish-pink. Regardless, their faces/heads may end up a different, pale color as a nod to the evil clown vibe these guys have goin' on.

Zomtober is only a few months away. (Hmm. That came out of left field. Where's he going with this? Let's read on.)

Between now and then I intend to focus almost exclusively on Fractured Dimensions miniatures, principally those from the IMotOP Kickstarter. There is a reason for this. I may not elaborate further.

To quote the good sergeant, "I know nothing. Nothing!".
